MATTAWAMKEAG - Ernest A. Philbrook, 77, died suddenly at his home Sunday morning. He was born in Woodville, Oct.1, 1888, the son of Mark and Elba (Archer) Philbrook. He was an employee of the Canadian Pacific Railroad for 50 years, untl his retirement in 1953. He was a member of Horeb Lodge of Masons at Lincoln, Minerva Lodge of Odd Fellows, also of Lincoln and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Ways of Brownville Junction. He is survived by a daughter, Jacqueline Russell of Milt, two sons, Vernon M. and Ernest A. of Mattawamkeag; one brother Irving of Milo; on sister, Mae Gerry of Cumberland Center; three half brother Ansel of Chester, George and Rodney of DoverFoxcroft; two half sisters, Pauline Skedgell of Boston, 13 grandchildren, three great grandchildren sveral nieces and nephews. Spring burial will be in the Mattawamkeag Cemetery
1920 census shows he was married to Lulu M. Philbrook and at the time had 3 children, Elmon M. age 15, Ernest A. age 13, and Ester E. age 5.
