Joseph S. Larson, 83, former SV resident

Joseph S. Larson, 83, of Eagan, Minn., formerly of the Spring Valley area, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at the Bloomington Good Samaritan Home.

He was born Feb. 16, 1914, in Hardin County, Iowa, to John and Julia Larson. On Jan. 30, 1941, he married Anna Soderberg in Forest City, Iowa. He served in the Army during World War II from 1941 until 1945 and was a member of American Legion Post 164. He was a machine operator for General Electric.

He is survived by his wife, Anna, of Eagan; two sons, Darrell and wife Retha of DeKalb, Ill., and Daniel and wife Lisa of Minneapolis and a daughter-in-law, Sheryl Larson; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bernice Osterhus and Charlotte Christopherson of Spring Valley and Velinda Tangen of Brownsdale; and a nephew, Don Larson of Spring Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry, and two sisters, Gladys and Agnes.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Rev. Jon Olson officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hindt-Hutchins Funeral Home in Spring Valley and an hour before the service at the church.
