"Mary Belle Channell, 83, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on Friday, October 1, 1999. Mary Channell was born September 21, 1916, in Putty Hill, Maryland. She attended St. Joseph Nursing School and graduated in the top of her class. Mary worked at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland as a Head Nurse of Urology for many years. She moved to Valparaiso in 1964 with her husband, project manager for Riggs-Sergeant Electric at Bethlehem Steel in Burns Harbor. She was a member of Henry Brecht Eastern Star No 43 in Dundalk, Maryland for years then transferred to the Valparaiso, IN chapter in 1966. They lived in Valparaiso until 1981 until her husband retired. They moved to the Tucson area where resided until their deaths. Mrs. Channell was a loving and devoted mother to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert Channell Jr., after 60 years of marriage, on September 3, 1997. She is survived by her six children: Albert Channell III, Paula Jeanne (Broda) and Stephen Channell, all of Baltimore, MD, Mary Phyllis (Stanley) of Tucson, AZ, Barbara Ann (Stewart) of Salisbury, MD and Michele (Hensel) of Valparaiso, IN; 17 grandchildren: Tina Hensel of Palm Bay, FL, Heather Heminger of Portage, IN, Krista Jenkins of Monroe, MI and Jennifer Hensel of Valparaiso, IN, and the others in Baltimore and Tucson.
