OBITUARY FOR BETTY J BATTERSON ... (sic)
CANEY - Betty J Batterton, age 77, of Caney, Kan., passed away Monday morning, Apr. 9 at the Caney Guest Home Estates, caney. She was born Sept. 1, 1923 in Edna, Kan. to Walter L. and Irene (Deacon) Batman.
She went to Edna High School and graduated from Edna High School in 1941. She married Bill Palmer on Sept. 20, 1942 in Nowata, Okla. He died on Mar. 24, 1961. She graduated from Independence Cosmetology College in 1962 and established a business in her home until 1986. She married H. Dale Batterton on on June 10, 1967 in Bartlesville, Okla. He died on Feb. 6, 1996.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Caney, Kan.
Survivors include: three children: Joyce Miller, Coffeyville; Diane Whicker, Caney; and Lee Palmer, Coffeyville; three sisters, Juanita Harris, Afton, Okla., Geneva Lynn, Paola, Lois Ann Lee, Afton Okla.; two stepdaughters, Deb Frye, Denver, Colo.; Dayla Overacher, Edgerton, Kan.; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Bill Palmer, and her second husband, H. Dale Batterton.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Apr. 13 at 2 pm at the First Baptist Church, Caney, with the Pastor David Glavin presiding. Burial will follow in the North Edna Cemetery, Edna, Kan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Graves Funeral Home, Caney.
