Daddy was a decorated veteran of WWII and was a Master Sergeant stationed in Italy.
The husband of Senora Belle Hartgraves Turner and father of 8 children (6 girls and 2 boys).
Daddy had a rough childhood growing up without his father and raised on a poor farm. He told us many stories about not having enough food and having to pick cotton on his uncles farm.
When he got married at a young age, he did his best to stick it out with Mom and us kids till we were grown.
He had a great sense of humor and taught us a lot about survival. He gave us his love for music, animals and the outdoors.
We love and miss you, Daddy.
Thank you for the love. Jan
From his eldest daughter, Elaine:
"It is hard to realize that someone so "alive" can be taken from your family, but the most important gifts he had were passed on to his children and grandchildren:
--A deep appreciation of music and the good things in life. --A determination to literally transform himself and to educate himself against all odds, made our Father one of a kind.
"I remember most of all his playing with all of us and his ability to tell the most fantastic stories.
"Once, a friend of mine and I met Daddy at a lounge in Dallas. He was in his 60's at the time, but he kept us entertained for hours. When we left, my friend was half in love with him, in spite of a 25 year age difference."
Thank you, Daddy, for a very interesting life. We all love and miss you so.
