Beattie Blagg Dickson, 88, of Topeka, passed away November 21, 2011.

He was born Feb. 9, 1923, in Topeka, KS, the son of Alfred H. and Ruth L. (Blagg) Dickson. Beattie graduated from Holliday Junior High, Topeka High School class of 1941 and he earned his Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kansas State University. Beattie proudly served in the military from 1943-45, earning four bronze stars.

Beattie married Isla Nadine Chatham on October 8, 1950 at the Oakland Presbyterian Church in Topeka, KS. She preceded him in death on October 8, 2011, which was their 61st wedding anniversary. An infant son, Donald Joseph also preceded them in death.

He was a member of the Oakland Presbyterian Church where he held multiple positions; he was a member of the American Legion Post #400, V.F.W., 401st Bomb Group Assn, Combat Air Museum, Rolling Thunder local chapter of Military Vehicle Preservation Association, President of the State Street Elementary School PTA, Cub Scout Pack Leader and Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 1. Beattie had been owner together with his father and his family of Dickson's Garage, established 1938.

Survivors include his children, Virginia Dickson, Topeka, KS; David W. Dickson his wife, Debbie, Lake St. Louis, MO and their children, Christa (Lars Pearson), Des Moines, IA, David Carlton., Colorado Springs, CO and Danielle, St. Louis, MO; Daniel Gene Dickson and his children, Lane Andres (Robbie), Wichita,KS Jalen and Danyea, Topeka, KS; Duane M. Dickson and his wife, Leann and their children, Sierra, Mariah and Jenalee, Lawrence KS; one great granddaughter, Sydney Andres, Wichita, KS and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Fri., Nov. 25, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd., Topeka KS 66614. Funeral service will be Sat., at 11 a.m. at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
