E. Ruth Crist, 80, of Cemetery Road, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at The Gatehouse Hospice following an illness.

Ruth's husband of 59 years, Carl E. Crist, died May 4, 2008.

Ruth retired from the former GTE Sylvania after 40 years of service. She was a 1948 graduate of the Williamsport High School.

Ruth loved animals, especially her four indoor cats. She fed and cared for numerous outdoor cats and kittens over the years that were homeless.

Born Feb. 18, 1931, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of Walter and Tressa Wesley Bryan.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Ruth was predeceased by brothers, John Bryan and Walter Bryan Jr. and a sister, Helen Edwards.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Knight-Confer's, 1914 Memorial Ave., with the Rev. Mark A. Beard officiating. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Wildwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers in Ruth's memory, contributions may be made to the Lycoming Animal Protection Society (LAPS), 195 Phillips Park Drive, South Williamsport, PA 17702.
