NEWPORT - Rose Stover, 75, died Aug. 11, 2009, at a Pittsfield hospital. She was born May 3, 1934, in Midland, Pa., a daughter of Joseph and Beatrice (Craven) Rataj. She was employed as a cigar maker in Philadelphia before moving to Maine in 1970. Rose was a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Palmyra. She is survived by three sons, John Clark of Texas, Joseph Clark of Pennsylvania and Troy Stover of Connecticut; three daughters, Roseanna Bickle of New Jersey, Jacqueline Jones of Missouri and Barbara Clark of Pennsylvania; 13 grandchildren, including a granddaughter, Miranda Thomas, whom she raised; and several cousins. She also leaves a close friend, Che Collins. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Crosby & Neal, 117 Main St., Newport, with the Rev. Thomas Duplessie officiating.
