Major Alwyn Lionel Compton Cavendish was the son of Ernest Lionel Francis Cavendish and Jessie Jenkins.
He married Muriel Cecil Harriott Heaton-Ellis, daughter of Lt.-Col. Sir Charles Henry Brabazon Heaton-Ellis and Marion Pringle McCarthy, on 18 August 1917.
He died aged 38 ayt whilst returning from Sudan
He was with the Sudan Political Service. He fought in the First World War, where he was severely wounded twice, and was mentioned in despatches.
He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 1st Batt Rifle Brigade.
