Mack Blanton, 36, of 503 Seal Ave., Piketon, died suddenly at his residence at 10 a.m. Friday of a heart attack. Mr. Blanton was a Construction Heavy Equipment Operator, a member of the Equipment Operator's Union, Local No. 18, in Columbus, and a member of the Fraternal Order of eagles, Area No. 2227, in Waverly. A native of Pike County, he was born July 9, 1935, the son of Golden and Mary Denny Blanton. On June 13, 1958, he married the former Sarah Jane Wilburn, who survives. surviving in addition to his wife, is his mother, Mary Blanton, also of Piketon; two sons, Mack S. and James E. Blanton, and two step-daughters, Geraldine Cochran and Cathy Cochran, all at home; and six sisters, Mrs. Margaret Graham of Columbus, Mrs. Barbara Maggard of Portsmouth, Mrs. Jane Beverlin of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Frances Havens of Rt. 5, Urbana, Mrs. Melinda Payne of Waverly, and Mrs. Laurel Steppe of Piketon. Mr. Blanton was preceded in death by his father and one sister. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Howe Co. Funeral Home in Piketon, with Rev. William Jolliff and Rev Willis Chaney, officiating. Burial followed in Mound Cemetery there. Friends called at the funeral home after noon Sunday until time for the final rites.
