Leck was a son of James Alexander "Leck" & Bessie Ann (Tackett) Blanton & husband of Jean. He died from cancer, His nicknames were Junior & Shorty. Junior was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a retired employee of Detroit-Steel & a native of New Boston, Scioto Co., Ohio. Leck is buried at Mound Cemetery, Piketon, Pike Co. OH, to the left of my parents & grandparents.

Leck "Shorty" Blanton, Jr., 58, of Sciotoville Route 4, died Wednesday at Scioto Memorial Hospital.
A native of New Boston, he was retired from the Empire-Detroit Steel Corp. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in New Boston, and a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Jean Blanton; three daughters, Sue Blanton of New Boston, Vickie Hacker of Wheelersburg, and Mrs. Kimberly Williams of Sciotoville; a son, Tom of Sciotoville; three brothers, Ollie of Piketon, Orville of Wayne, Mich., and Charles of Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Audrey Brushart of Piketon, Mrs. Ova Wells of Indiana and Mrs. Norma Spitzer of Columbus; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral service is to be 1 p.m. Saturday at Pennington-Bishop Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Berlin officiating. Interment is to be in the Mound Cemetery at Piketon.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 9 p.m.
