Mrs. Mary Trimble, wife of Thomas Trimble, died on Wednesday, October 23, 1889, aged 76 years, 6 months and 23 days. She was the oldest daughter of John Anderson, Esq., father of Dr. Wm. Anderson, of this place. She was born in Ireland, but came to this county when four years old and has lived here ever since. She completed her education in Indiana in 1833 and 1834. After that she taught school in the summer until in 1841, when she was married to Thomas Trimble, who with their five children, survives her. On April 27, 1839, she connected herself with the Associate Presbyterian church, under the pastoral care of Rec. David Blair, and was a faithful member until her death. She lived the christian life which she professed and had the reverence and respect of all who knew her. She was a patient, cheerful christian, waiting for the coming of the Lord. "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints." We extend our sympathy to the aged and lonely husband, who has lost the companion, who for almost fifty years traveled life's path with him. We know the children will miss the loved form from the vacant chair, but
There is no death! The stars go down
To rise upon some fairer shore;
And bright is Heaven's jeweled crown
They shine forever more.
And ever near us, though unseen,
The dear immortal spirits tread;
For all the boundless universe
is light - here are no dead.
