Susan Jean Adams, 59, of Old Nashville Road died Thursday afternoon Aug. 28, 2003, in a traffic accident near Gaylord, Mich. Her husband, Frank M. Adams Jr., also died in the accident.
Mrs. Adams was a former Bartholomew County elementary school teacher and reading tutor and currently worked as a substitute teacher. She was a graduate of Columbus High School and Indiana University, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa sorority, and also earned a master's degree in education at IU.
She was a charter member of North Christian Church and a member of Chapter DI of PEO, Columbus Culture Club and Psi Iota Xi sorority and was an active member of Bar-tholomew County Historical Society.
The funeral for Mrs. Adams and her husband will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at North Christian Church with the Rev. Greg Russell officiating. Calling will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Inlow & Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street and from noon until service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Heritage Fund of Bartholomew County or North Christian Church.
Born in Columbus Aug. 7, 1944, Mrs. Adams was the daughter of Marshall O. and Jean A. Stambaugh Prather. She married Frank M. Adams Jr. Aug. 10, 1969.
Survivors include her mother, of Columbus; a son, Benjamin Adams of Columbus; a daughter, Tricia Adams of Indianapolis; brothers, David, Richard and Douglas Prather, all of Columbus; and a sister, Sally Ramsey of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her father.
