Leonard's obituary was in the Chicago Tribune on June 27, 2001 and it read as follows: "Leonard G. Jensen, 84, a retired insurance broker and a 51-year resident of Hinsdale, died Monday, June 25, in Hinsdale Hospital. Born in Chicago and raised in the Austin neighborhood, Mr. Jensen was a broker of commercial insurance products and had worked for Warehouse and Marine Casualty Co. in Chicago. 'He loved music and sang in the choir at Redeemer Lutheran Church for as long as we lived in Hinsdale,' his wife of 61 years, Dorothy, said. 'Wherever we went, he sang in choirs.' Mr. Jensen was a golfer and is remembered for his interest in reading. 'He was an avid reader and loved the newspaper crossword puzzles,' his wife said. 'And we could never get enough books for him.' Mr. Jensen also was a painter of landscapes who worked in oils. A member of Masonic Lodge 934 in Hinsdale, he served in the Army during World War II and was a 10-year volunteer at Hinsdale Hospital. Other survivors include a daughter, Marcia Nelsen [who lives in Morgan Hill, CA]; a son, Paul [who lives in San Jose, CA]; a brother, Warren; two granddaughters; and a great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Elliston Funeral Home, 630-323-0275, 1st and Grant Streets, Hinsdale. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Redeemer Lutheran Church, Park and 1st Streets, Hinsdale."

Widow:
In the year 2000 he was living at 918 Allmen Avenue in Hinsdale, Illinois. After his death his widow moved to Morgan Hill, California.
