Death of G. W. Bowers.
George W. Bowers, a well known and highly respected citizen, died at his home in Shelbyville Sunday night, aged 69 years. He had been in ill health for the past year, but had not been confined to his bed.
Deceased was born in Marion, Ohio, and came to Shelby county soon after the war. In 1867 he was married to Miss Francis Lair, sister of John Lair, of Gordon, Neb., and well known all over this county. Mr. Bowers was a member of the Missouri State Holiness Association and lived up to his belief in a true and conscientious way, helping many who needed assistance, and always with a heart full of love and kindness for humanity. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Robert, of Billings, Mont., and Doc who lives on the old home place east of Bethel; two daughters Mrs Pet Lear, east of Bethel and Mrs. Carrie Case, of Lewistown, Mo.
Funeral services were held at the family residence Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Edward Phillips, of Lakenan. Burial took place in the I. O. O. F. cemetery.
