Mantle, Ada Maria – Lower Truro. We regret to announce the passing of our beloved mother, Ada Maria Mantle, 95, of Lower Truro Road on November 26, 2011 at the Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, surrounded by the love and support of her family. Born in Trinity East, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Rachel (Jones) Fifield. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She married our father, Stan Mantle in Curling, Newfoundland prior to coming to "Mantle Hill", where she resided until her passing. Mom taught for over 32 years, first in Newfoundland, then in Lower Truro, Beaver Brook, Onslow Parade School and in Truro schools with Special Education. She was a dedicated teacher who took a special interest in each student. Our mother volunteered countless hours to organizations such as the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Alumni Association of the Nova Scotia Teacher's College, Boys and Girls Club and numerous other worthy causes. Mom's dedication to the Truro Heights United Baptist Church resulted in many years of faithful service until her failing health. Our parents loved being "on the go". They were avid bowlers and enjoyed card parties. Mom loved music and writing poetry and readily shared her talents with others. She is survived by her children, Dianne Mantle, Salmon River; William "Bill", Halifax; Linda (Ross) Weatherbee, Truro Heights; Barbara (Dan) Molly, Port Alberni, BC; Harry (Debbie), Lower Truro; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and her faithful cat, Goldie. Ada was predeceased by our father Cyril Stanley (2001) after 57 years of marriage, and a grandson Aaron Weatherbee (1995); sisters, Betty, Charity and Frances; brothers, Orlando and Jack. A heartfelt thanks is extended to the Victorian Order of Nurses and the nursing staff of 4 East of the Colchester Regional Hospital. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 29th from 6-9pm with a Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Tribute Service at 6pm. Funeral service on Wednesday, November 30th at 2pm, all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, with Pastor Greg Porter officiating. Spring interment in the Truro Heights Cemetery. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Truro Heights United Baptist Church or to a charity of choice. Live web-casting of the service will begin at 1:58 pm (Atlantic Time) and is available along with on-line condolences and donations at: www.colchestercommunity.com
