Robert (Bob) M. Gose, 52, well known and popular business man of Wytheville died unexpectedly at his home on West Franklin Street yesterday morning. Death was attributed to a heart ailment.
He was universally popular and well known throughout Wythe County. He had been associated with Owens and Owens Drug Company for many years.
The deceased was an ardent sports fan, and in his youth was one of the stars on the baseball diamond as well as various other sports.
Gose was interested in all worthwhile civic projects. He was an active member of St. Paul's Methodist Church
Surviving are his wife Mrs. Irene Painter Gose, a sister, Mrs. Thomas J. Pope of Ivanhoe, and his mother, Mrs. Lena Gose, also of Ivanhoe.
Funeral rites will be held this afternoon at 4:00 o'clock at St. Paul's Methodist Church. Rev. Tom P. Carriger, his pastor, assisted by Rev. H. B. Abshire, of Pulaski, officiated. Burial will be at West End Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be A. P. Terry, Fred. M. Heuser, Dan Johnston, Troy Cochrane, Harold Tarter, Brown Cassell, Leff Cochrane, and Dr. L. H. Crockett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Doctors E. M. Chitwood, W. R. Chitwood, C. D. Moore, Carl Starke, C. F. Graham, Paul C. Hendrix, C. B. Hughes, John Haller. Also Frank Stephens, R. C. Morehead Sr., R. C.
