Emma Nine

Elkins - Mrs. Emma Blanche Balser Nine, 86, a resident of 915 North Randolph Avenue, who had resided in Elkins for the past 62 years, died December 24 in the Davis Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since December 17. Mrs. Nine had been in failing health for the past four years, and her condition had remained critical since suffering a stroke on December 17.
Mrs. Nine was born June 1, 1885 near Ripley, Jackson County, a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Sarah Eliza (Crago) Balser. She attended the schools of Jackson County and on January 6, 1909 was married to Wilson Galloway Nine who preceded her in death July 6, 1958.
Mrs. Nine was a member of the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen.
Surviving are three sons, Roy Lee Nine of the Harpertown Road, Ira Ray Nine of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Leon D. Nine of Raleigh, N.C. Also surviving are four brothers and one sister; Henry Balser of Ravenswood, Clarence Balser of Grafton, Virgil Balser of Hollywood, Fla., Marshall Balser of Parkersburg, and Mrs. Mary E. Staats of Ripley. One brother and three sisters are deceased. There are three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren surviving.
