William Barker moved to Brown Cty, Ks with his son Andrew Jackson Barker in 1871, William was a native of Virginia dn (sic) of English descent. He was an early settler in Schuyler Cty Illinois where he received a government land grant for having rendered meritorious service in the Black Hawk Indian War. The Barker family were well known cutlery manufavturers (sic) in England.
