Alice May Doyle (Forysthe) 90, Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully Wednesday, October 26, 2011.

She was born October 1, 1921 in southwest Philadelphia where she lived and raised her family of 5 children with husband Frank B. Doyle (deceased 1979).

She worked for Woolworth's dept. store on Woodland Ave. in Phila. until she retired. She loved the many animals she rescued and gave a home to many a stray cat. She fed all of the stray cats in her neighborhood as well as the birds and squirrels. Alice was the voice for many mistreated animals that crossed her path. She loved her two remaining cats and they were right by her side till the end. She loved to garden, bird watch, had a passion for reading, shopping and eating sweets. She will always be remembered for her little front garden at her row home in Philly she kept well tended with flowers and roses. Many a neighbor would stop by to admire her 'green thumb'. She lived in the house she was born in for 83 years and was the oldest original resident in southwest Philadelphia at the time of her move to Elkton.

Alice moved to Elkton, MD in 2004 to live with her youngest daughter Alice M. Murdock when she was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. She was a fighter and fought a hard fight and well surpassed the 2 year life expectancy given, even with two more recurrences of the cancer. At 90, with the third recurrence, she lost her long battle and peacefully, with her daughter Alice at her side, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She left behind friends and caregivers she came to know and love while living in Elkton. She will be remembered for her beautiful blue eyes and will forever bring smiles to the faces of those who knew her "feisty strong-willed" personality with her quick comeback and her laugh, keeping us all on our toes till the very end.

Alice left behind 5 children: Frank Doyle and wife Rita of Springfield, PA, Larraine Lewis and husband Ronnie of Turnersville, NJ, Sandra Daly and husband Ed of Norwood, PA, Barry Doyle and wife Diana of Levittown, PA and Alice Murdock and husband Michael of Elkton, MD; and her brother Calvin (Buzz) Forsythe of Margate, NJ. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

A thank you to Dr. Khatri and" the girls", Seasons Hospice , and the many other friends of Alice Murdock who helped support her and her Mom with love and forever friendship.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 31, 2011 at 11:30 AM at Crouch Funeral Home, P.A., 127 South Main Street, North East, MD, with visitation for family and friends beginning at 10:30 AM.

Interment will follow services in Philadelphia Memorial Park, Frazer, PA.

In lieu of flowers, Alice's wish was for donations to be made to Chesapeake Feline Association, Inc., P.O. Box 925, Perryville, MD 21903 in her name. Mom loved all animals, esp. cats and if she could, she would have rescued them all. Your donation will help fulfill that wish.
