Leslie and a minister friend, Cal, were on bikes off the side of a highway and both were struck and killed.

The son of Roy Leslie Coleman and Bertha Jane Williams was born February 23, 1939 in rural Walker (near the Hoover Church) and married Joan Ruth Sailer there at the Hoover Wesleyan Church, July 13, 1963. He enjoyed being a son, brother, husband, dad, grandpa, and uncle. He faithfully attended Hillside Wesleyan Church, where he worked the Sound System and did innumerable behind-the-scenes tasks. He worked nearly 30 years at Quaker Oats in the Ready-to-Eat Cereal Department. His interests, after God and family, included camp counseling, building, and flying radio controlled airplanes, being an officer of the Cedar Rapids Skyhawks, being a member of the Academy of Model Aeronauties, participating in RAGBRAI, motor-cycling, boating, music, swimming at the YMCA, and Drag Racing.Those missing him until they meet again, include his wife, Joan, his sons, Roger and Jack, his "daughter" in-law Lisa, his parents, roy and Bertha, his brother, Ronald Coleman, Kansas City, Missouri, his sisters, Alice Heinrich, Independence, Iowa; Thelma Johnson, Mt. Morris, Michigan; and RoNay Divis, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his grandchildren, Andrew and Rachael Coleman, his seven nephews, 17 nieces, three great nephews, five great nieces, and many other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded to Heaven by his sister, Mary Jane. Services were at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 1992, at Hillside Wesleyan Church. Friends Rev. Ken Mostue, and Rev. Wayne Richards presided. Visitation was held Friday, May 22, 1992, from 3-8 p.m.
