He was a son to Frank W. and Beatrice (Kenefake) Axe. On Nov 25, 1948, at St. Henry Catholic Church, he married Pauline J. Muhlenkamp, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gary (Winona), Troy, and Robert, Milford Center; a daughter, Jean Ann (Marty) Lohmuller, Granger, IN; a sister, Rita Miley, St. Marys; and nine grandchildren adn two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are an infant son, Joseph; and infant daughter, Mary; two brothers, Patrick and Thomas; and a sister, Jean Axe.
A veteran of the US Navy, he was awarded 5 stars for his service in the Asiatic – Pacific Theatre during World War II. He retired after 40 years from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, where he was a master machinist. He was a lifetime member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus Council # 1492 and VFW Post # 9289, all St. Marys. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he traveled throughout the United States with his friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, with the Rev. Anthony E. Cutcher, officiating.
