LaRue Herald News, Thursday, June 11, 1896:
Mrs. Lou Elliott, wife of James H. Elliott of near Jericho, died at her home last Sunday. Burial in Mt. Tabor on Monday. Leaves husband and her 3rd daughter, Miss Sallie

LaRue County Herald:
Mrs. Lou Elliott (Died June 7, 1896)
Mrs. Lou Elliott, wife of Mr. James H. Elliott, of near Jericho, this county, died at her home on last Sunday and the remains were buried at Mt. Tabor on Monday. Mrs. Elliott had been an invalid for over seven years and for nearly the whole time was confined to her bed. She bore her afflictions with Christian fortitude and died with every hope of having earned a reward for her earthly labors. She leaves a husband, who is and has been for some time, in very delicate health, and besides her third daughter, Miss Sallie, was so ill that she could not attend the burial of her mother. These are peculiarily heavy afflictions to come upon a family and are well calculated to move every Christian heart. We extend to the family our tenderest sympathy.
