Words become a mockery in an attempt to chronicle the awful death of little Beulah Acterburg, 6 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Acterburg, by fire Thursday afternoon. The child was playing with her little brother in the granery near the house. The boy was playing with some matches and in striking one burned his finger. He threw the match away hastily and it fell on the little girls dress, and in almost an instant she was a mass of flames. She rushed to the house and was met by her mother who made frantic attempts to extinguish the flames and in doing so received many painful burns. The child was so frightfully burned that all efforts to save her life were unavailing and she passed away last night about twelve o'clock. Funeral services will be held Saturday, but at this writing had not been definitely arranged. Mr. and Mrs. Acterburg reside on one of the Rapp farms south of St. Edward. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to them.

The following poem is inscribed to the bereaved parents by a friend.

Your home is sad and lonely, for death hath entered there,
And taken little Beulah, so innocent and fair,
Your tears for her are falling,
Your hearts with grief oppressed,
But murmur not, she sweetly sleeps upon the Savior's breast.
But oh- you'll miss your loved one,
Her prattling voice so sweet,
And oft will list in vain, to hear the coming of her feet.
You'll miss her fond caresses, her merry shouts unfurled,
Long from your home you'll miss her, your precious darling girl.
You'll miss her in the morning, and at the hour of eve.
And [illegible] well beloved one, fond parents ye will grieve.
But God, who gave the treasure,
Hath taken her on high.
You would not wish to call her
back to suffer and to die,
She is not lost thy darling She's only gone before,
To dwell among the cherubs band,
Where sickness comes no more.
