Gunnery Sergeant Larry L. Wisnoski was born in Houston, Texas on April 4, 1935. He passed away Thursday, May 15, 2003 in Harlingen, Texas. After graduating from Cypress Fairbanks High School (1953), Gunnery Sergeant Wisnoski enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1953. After serving for 20 years, Gunnery sergeant Wisnoski retired with Honorable Service. From 1979 - 2003, Gunnery Sergeant Wisnoski joined the staff of marine Military in Harlingen, Texas.His awards and decorations include: Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Cross for Gallantry, and the Good Conduct Medal.Gunnery Sergeant Wisnoski is preceded in death by his father, Theodore Stafford, and his son, Christian Eric WisnoskiHe is survived by his wife of 38 years, Isabel B. Wisnoski of Portland, Texas, and their three children, Norma (Nasser) Zangebar Sabegh, Stefan (Migum) Wisnoski, and Lisette (Alex) Rosales. He is also survived by his mother, Marguerite (Johnny) Johnson and his sisters and brothers.Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, Sunday May 18, 2003 at the Limbaugh Funeral Home in Portland, Texas with a rosary to be recited at 7:00pm that evening.The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00am, Monday, May 19, 2003 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Portland, Texas. Interment to follow at San Patricio Memorial Gardens in Portland, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at 6:30pm.
