He entered Air Force Pilot Training on January 6, 1966.
Later he was assigned to the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing at Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand where he flew the F-4D ‘Phantom II' fighter.
During his tour at Ubon he was proud to have been a Wolf FAC.

Major David Joel Bean passed away on March 9, 2010. He was born on July 23, 1941. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years and was passionate about World Affairs. He is greatly missed and leaves behind four loving daughters: Amy Bean from Colorado, Becky Bean from New York, Christie Brodtman from Louisiana, and Kim Granger from Wisconsin. A Service of Memory and Love will be offered on Saturday morning at 11 o'clock from The Godfrey Funeral Home, 809 Central Avenue, Ocean City, NJ. The family suggests those who desire send memorial contributions to the Hospice of one's choice.
