Rev. Donald G. Roemer, 89, formerly of 211 Lamberton St., Rocky Grove, died Monday morning, October 20, 2003, in the home of his daughter in Connellsville. Born September 11, 1914, in Franklin, he was the son of LeRoy L. and Isabelle Hogue Roemer.

He was a 1932 graduate of Rocky Grove High School and later graduated from Anderson University in Indiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in theology. He started his ministry in 1947 and continued through 1977. He served as pastor of the Church of God twice in York Springs; in Dutch Hill; Phillipsburg; New Lexington, OH; and Grampian, where he retired. While at Grampian, he started a Christian group for men called the Churchmen. After retirement, he was a part-time pastor for several years wherever needed. He was a member of the Fox Street Church of God in Rocky Grove, was a volunteer for the Salvation Army and the Boy Scouts of America. While in York Springs, he served on the school board.

On October 8, 1939, he married Ruby Marie Boyer, who died February 17, 2002.

Surviving are a son and wife, David James and Mary Lou Roemer of Horseheads, NY; a daughter and husband, Donna Kay and James Cossell of Connellsville; eight grandchildren, Rhonda Leigh Stephani and husband, Michael, of Horseheads, NY, Sandy Faye Myers and husband, Glenn, of Chester Springs, Douglas James Roemer and wife, Tina, of Pinehurst, NC, Angela Mitchell and husband, Keith, of Belleview, FL, Tammy Lerch and husband, Matt, of Shippenville, Stephen Black and Troy Cossell and wife, Shelli, all of Atlanta, GA, and Tara Clark and husband, David, of Indianapolis, IN; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, James and Jack Roemer, and a sister, Faye Roemer preceded him in death.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Fox Street Church of God, Rocky Grove, with the Rev. Philip Conklin, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
