WESTERNPORT - Sarah Mae Ahern, 83, of 327 Hammond St., Westernport, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 5, 1997, at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, W.Va.
Born June 23, 1913, in Old Fields, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Jessie Franklin and Mary Louise (Whetzel) Raines. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Roscoe Ahern Jr., in 1967, and a sister, Pearl Keller.
Mrs. Ahern was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Westernport, and a member of Victory Post No. 155 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She was a very devoted mother and grandmother. She also was a special friend to her children, grandchildren and everyone who knew her.
Surviving are four sons, Richard Ahern and wife Debra, Westernport, Harry Ahern and wife Sandy, Backbone Mountain, Mike Ahern and wife Janet, Fountain, W.Va., Carlton Ahern Jr. and wife Gloria, Salem, Va.; four daughters, Patricia Hartman and husband James, Westernport, Carolyn Sue Durst, Fountain, W.Va, Sharon Daris and husband Jeff, Westernport, Dottie Miller and husband Richard, Westernport; one brother, Ocie Raines Sr., Westernport; and one sister, Ruby Rayner, LaVale; 20 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The Victory Unit Ladies Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Saturday at 2:15 p.m.
Services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
Pallbearers will be James Carlton Hartman, Floyd W. Durst Jr., Jason M. Ahern, Michael Lee Sanders Jr., James Allen Wills, and Joseph Ahern.
