Actor. He was best known for playing the character roles of generals, salesmen, reverends, doctors, sheriffs, judges, and farmers. He was best known for playing the role of the 'Naked Man' in the comedy film, "Caddyshack II" (1989). He is also best remembered for his role as 'Judge Patrick Sullivan' in four episodes of the popular television soap opera, "The Young And The Restless," in 1986. He was born one of six children as Sidney Levington Conrad in Otsego, Michigan, to Hugh Churchill Conrad (1884-1961), and his wife Bessie Maude Turner Conrad (1886-1938), on August 10, 1923. He was educated locally and later earned a Bachelor's Degree in history and a Master's Degree in journalism from Columbia University in New York City, New York. He also served his country during World War II. Following his military service, he pursued an acting career. He made his actual film debut playing the role of the 'Petrox Chairman' in the adventure horror, "King Kong" (1976), which was directed by John Guillermin, and which also starred Jeff Bridges, Charles Grodin, and Jessica Lange. Besides, "King Kong" (1976), and "Caddyshack II" (1989), his many other film credits include, "The Amazing Howard Hughes" (1977), "A Different Story" (1978), "The Last Ride Of The Dalton Gang" (1979), "Nightside" (1980), "Best Kept Secrets" (1984), "The Annihilators" (1985), "Wisdom" (1986), "Police Story: Gladiator School" (1988), "The Glimmer Man" (1996), and "The Burkittsville 7" (2000). Besides, the four episodes of the popular television soap opera, "The Young And The Restless," in 1986, his many other television credits include, "General Hospital," "Judd For The Defense," "Nancy," "The Doris Day Show," "Days Of Our Lives," "All In The Family," "A Different Story," "Police Woman," "Charlie's Angels," "The Waltons," "Supertrain," "Little House On The Prairie," "Father Murphy," 'Voyagers," "Archie Bunker's Place," "Simon & Simon," "Lottery!" "Maximum Security," "Airwolf," "Dallas," "Who's The Boss?" "Moonlighting," "Knots Landing," "The Magical World Of Disney," "Brothers," "The Paper Chase," "Cheers," "CBS Schoolbreak Special," "My Two Dads," "My Sister Sam," "Homefront," "The Marshal," "Sisters," "Rugrats," "Chicago Hope," "The Michael Richards Show," "ER," "The West Wing," and "JAG." His last role was playing 'William' in the short film drama, "Welcome To Paradox" (2009). The film which was directed and written by Archie Hernandez, and which also starred Catherine Bevington, Mary Pat Dowhy, and Margaret Silbar, tells the story of an elderly couple who are left unattended in their home and who wander separately from room to room. Familiar objects and the iconic big-band music of Glenn Miller trigger memories - both vividly delightful and achingly sad. In the end, they are reunited via a charming memory, and they share one last loving moment. He retired from acting shortly thereafter. He passed away in his native Williamsburg, Virginia, on April 16, 2010, at the age of 86, and he was buried in Williamsburg Memorial Park in Williamsburg West, Virginia. He was married to Sheila Conrad with whom he had two children.
