Psalm 1:1-3
1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Born in Medford, Taylor County Wisconsin, Dad was the son of Claude Mathews
and Ida Mae Clarkson Mathews
He married Rebecca Anne Smith in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana, December 29, 1950 in the chapel of First Baptist Church. He preceeded his wife in death by nearly 6 months. He died at home with his family around him.

Seven children blessed their union:
Stephen R.
Pamela A.
Stanley L.
Penny G.
Paula J.
Randy W.
Timothy B.

Dad and Mom are buried next to each other, The inscription on their memorial, "See You In The Morning" is what Mom and Dad said to each other at the end of their day. Mom retired to her room and Dad was confined to the hospital bed set near the window in the living room.
That statement has a new meaning now.

Dad served his country in the United States Army during World War II and was proud of his contibution.

During his life, he lived in Wisconsin, Indiana, Arizona and California.

He worked many jobs in his life. Among others, he worked in Terre Haute at the Weston Paper Mill; Shamrock Dairy in Tucson; the Tucson Marble and Granite Company with his father; but he retired from the trucking industry after many years with Southern Pacific Trucking and also Lee-Way Motor Freight Company.

Perhaps his favorite "job" was raising seven children!

He served God in various capacities and opportunities.
He helped in many church building programs; he was a Sunday School teacher; and a deacon in the Southern Baptist Church, including, Temple Baptist Church, also known as First Southern Baptist of Terre Haute, Indiana;
North Tucson Baptist Church in Tucson, Arizona;
Wetmore Baptist Church in Tucson;
First Baptist Church in Marina, California;
Forest Avenue Baptist Church, Mishawaka, Indiana;
South Side Baptist Church in South Bend, Indiana.

His cause of death was cancer.
