Korea: US Air Force, Captain

Lt. Charles[Carl] Thompson was recently returned to the United States after he was released from an internment camp in a neutral country. He was navigator of a B17 which was shot down after a raid.

My Uncle was Capt. Carl J. Thompson who was killed while flying his last mission, along with Capt. Wesley Y. Clement, Lt. Col. John W. Osborn, Major Joseph H. Ray, and Sgt. Dean O. Sohns. Air Force Troop Carrier in Weinheim, Germany on May 15, 1953. All five bodies were sent home in one casket (Group Burial) Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. (message from Sandy - Nov 2016)
