David Lee Lewis, Sr. "Pop" was born December 3, 1938, in Clarksville, Texas (Red River County) to Sampson and Lorean Lewis. He was the eighth child of fourteen children. He was preceded in death by both parents and a grandchild.

He was baptized at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He attended school in Clarksville, Texas. David loved playing ball, fishing, singing and playing the guitar.

David left home in his early twenties. He met and married Rosalin Yvonne Miles. To this union six children were born. Rosalin also preceded him in death.

David Lee "Pop" Lewis, Sr. departed this earthly life on Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

He leaves to cherish his memory: six children, Angela Maupin of Kansas City, Kansas, Sylvia Lewis of Lee's Summit, Missouri, Cheryl L. Floyd (Fred) of Kansas City, Missouri, David Lewis, Jr., Steven Lewis and Katrina Arnold (Aaron) of Independence, Missouri; one brother, Theodist Lewis (Clarice); eight sisters, Christine Guyton, both of Kansas City, Missouri, Bernice Bryles, Dianna Harris, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Janet Verner of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Dorothy Morgan, Clara Coleman, Clementine Hayes, all of Clarksville, Texas, and Lorene Wilson of Kansas City, Kansas; twelve grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him so very much.
