Elmer was the son of John Allen Woody and Mattie Triplett and had sisters, Ona Jane and Millie Allie.

He was in the Army only from the 21st of October 1942 until March 1, 1943. Not sure why he was in Flat Rock, Michigan when he married Naomi Gaby the 13th of December 1952. She was from Athens, Tennessee, and they returned to that area.

As far as is known, Elmer and Naomi did not have children together.
