CLAIRE WILLIAM ABBOTT
Pasco, Wash.
Claire William Abbott, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather has completed his life's journey on earth in the arms of his loving wife and daughter, and entered a new and eternal life with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, October 16, 2003.

He was born December 18, 1915 in Burlington, Colorado, the son of Arthur Otis Abbott and Juanita Geneva Martin. He had two brothers, Ronald Arthur Abbott and Glenn Martin Abbott, and two sisters, Evelyn Earley and Louise Torrey. On September 2, 1939, he married his beautiful and loving wife, Elaine Opal Patterson. Together they were blessed with two daughters, Mary Juanita Washburn and Jeraldine (Jeri) Claire Deymonaz, and a son, Michael Stephen Abbott, who preceded his father in death on October 3,1986. He is also grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren who he greatly enjoyed being with.

His primary school years were in the Azusa, CA area and some college classes later at Columbia Basin College.

As a young man, he worked on the Grand Coulee Dam during its construction years. He then moved to Ohio and started his machinist career at the Cincinnati Milling Machine Company in 1940. He became a very skilled machinist.

In 1943, he moved to Pasadena, CA and worked for Pasadena Aeronautics. Then in December 1946, he moved to the Tri-City area and was hired by Atkinson Jones, later General Electric and then for Batelle Northwest.

At Batelle, he enjoyed working in the research and development area. One of his favorite projects were the teeth implants, research his daughter later benefitted from.
He retired from Batelle in March 1981, and began traveling around the country to see various family members scattered from Michigan, Missouri, Kentucky and Arizona especially.

Through the years, he also enjoyed such sports activities as baseball, bowling, golfing, fishing and hunting. He had a wonderful life filled with many good friends and was loved by all who met him.

Claire's unconditional love, faith and patience, his wit and true appreciation for life and the beauty God provided will be greatly missed by his wife, Elaine; daughter, Juanita, and husband, Bill Washburn, their children, Matthew (deceased), Cyndi Brannen, Becky Heward, Bill and Dan Washburn, Sarah Ulrich, Tim Washburn, James Washburn and Mary Washburn, and their spouses and children; daughter, Jeri, and husband, Jerry Deymonaz, their children, Debbie Arvonen, Steve Daymonaz, Mark Deymonaz, Erin Diffenbaugh, Heidi Bryant, Michael Deymonaz and Aimee Channel and their spouses and children; and granddaughter, Rebecca Janosky and her spouse, Jared.

The family would like to extend a very special appreciation and thank you to all the special friends who have been a part of Claire's life and brought so much joy and beauty to his life. Also to gratefully acknowledge Dr. Stanley Hales and Dr. Ronald Davis who gave so much in loving care and comfort that eased a heavy burden.

Claire is a gentle, loving ray of light that will make Heaven brighter. His presence will be missed, but his love and memories will live in our hearts forever ... 'Til we meet again.

A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2003 with a viewing from 3:00p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mueller's Greenlee Funeral Home, 1608 W. Court Street, Pasco.
