Adele Mary Vertz
Adele Mary Vertz, 82, a De Pere resident, died Thursday, May 21, 1998, at a local nursing home following a lengthy illness. The daughter of the late Jules and Cecilia (DeBauche) DeVillers was born on Feb. 3, 1916, in Rosierre and lived in Sturgeon Bay and Algoma, prior to moving to De Pere. Adele had been employed at the Algoma Hospital until moving to De Pere. Adele married Oliver Vertz Oct. 27, 1934, in Sturgeon Bay. Adele was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church and the De Pere Senior Center.
Survivors include three children and their spouses, Mary Jane and Jim Stoller, Kenneth and Mary Ann Vertz, Terry and Mary Vertz, all of De Pere; 11 grandchildren, Mike, Judy, Janet, Dean, Shari. Dan, Jim, Dave, Jessica, Joe, Nicole; 13 great-grandchildren, Brian, Kristyn, Aaron, Amy, Stephanie, Brett, Nicholas, Erin, Shannon, Alex, Lucas, Ryan, Chelsey; one sister, Mary Mallien, Crivitz; numerous other relatives and friends.
Adele was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver; a daughter. Mae Ann: two grandchildren, Mary and Joseph; her parents, Jules and Cecilia DeVillers; a brother August DeVillers.
Friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere. from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and after 9 a.m. Tuesday until the cortege leaves for the church. Funeral services 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethany United Methodist Church. 1110 Echo Lane. Green Bay, with the Rev. Charles J. Cederholm officiating. Burial in Bayside Cemetery, Sturgeon Bay.
The family extends a special thank you to Linda, Lynn and the support staff at San Luis Manor for the care and support.
Adele will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She mostly enjoyed visiting with her great-grandchildren.
