Eva Elizabeth Croft, 80, of Idaho Falls, formally of Quartzsite, Arizona, died March 30, 2001, at Life Care Center following Alzheimer' s Disease.
She was born March 16, 1921, in Cambridge, Ohio, to Cleveland Jehue and Ethel Bernice (Davis) Deem. She was the fourth of five children, and she grew up and spent her earlier years and education in Ohio. She attended Bible College in the early 1950s.
She married Lewis Croft of Shelley, Idaho in 1984. They spent their summers together in Idaho Falls and their winters in Quartzsite, Arizona, with friends and family. They enjoyed travelling to Wizard of Oz festivals and parades, and potlucks with friends. She played the steel guitar, and he played the guitar as they sang in the Old Time Fiddlers Organization performing for dances at the Senior Citizens Centers and many nursing homes. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening, camping, and playing games with family and friends; she especially adored her dogs.
Survivors include her six children, Carolyn Hand and Pete Hand, both of Roanoke, Virginia, Grace Hammond and Tom Conrad, both of Kenner, Louisiana, Charlotte (Kerry) Shirts of Idaho Falls, and Bruce Carlson of Las Vegas, Nevada; siblings, Alfred Deem and Ether Schoolcraft, both of Canton, Ohio. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Leslie Deem.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Chapel, 825 E. 17th St., in Idaho Falls.
