Moses McSpadden was the son of Thomas McSpadden b. about 1720 in Ireland & Dorothy Edmiston; he had the following siblings: William, Sarah, Alexander, Thomas, John, Archibald, Isabell, Samuel, & Margaret McSpadden.

He married in 1776 in Rockbridge Co., VA, Sarah Jane Whitesides b. abt 1760 in VA; they had the following children: Thomas M., Rebecca, Moses, Margaret, Jane, & John McSpadden.

Moses was a farmer & miller near Abingdon, VA; he served in the Revolutionary War, and is listed in the Roster of Rev. Soldiers from Abingdon, VA, in the "Annals of Tazwell Co, VA" by John Newton Harman, Sr.
