The Westminster History is wrong a bit too much in terms of genealogy and in this case I think it steered you (or someone before you) to make Abigail's last name as Beard. She was actually Abigail Knowlton, daughter of Jeremiah Knowlton and Sarah Allen and she was born 1/19/1738 in Concord MA. She married John Pierce 9/3/1759 in Concord MA. After her death John remarried to Susannah Hartshorn 7/19/1814 in Gardner MA; Susannah was the widow of Joseph Beard and they were both born in Reading MA.
Also, John and Abigail are buried in Woodside Cemetery in Westminster MA.
