Funeral services for Harold R. Miller, 83, of Palco were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, at the Palco United Methodisth Church with Reverend Jolene Stephenson officiating. Mr. Miller died Saturday, Nov. 2, 2002 at the Plainville Rural Hospital.

He was born on September 7, 1919 in Oakley, KS, the son of Raymond and Anna (Homm) Miller. Mr. Miller received his Bachelors and Masters in education and administration from Ft. Hays State University and also played football for FHSU.

He married Gertrude DuBus on Sept. 24, 1943 in McPerson, KS. He taught school or was a principal and superintendent in several Kansas communities including Oakley, Palco, Stockton, Ness City, Scott City and Mullinville. Along with teaching Mr. Miller was a coach for football and track to name a few. He was a member of the Palco United Methodist Church, the Lions Club in Palco and Oakley, was involved in the Oakley FFA, the K-Club at FHSU and was a member of the Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity at FHSU.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Miller, and sister, Altha Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Gertrude of the home; 3 daughters: Linda Robinson of Topeka, Judy K. Mohr of Indianapolis, IN, Dena Jo Barclay of Mountain Home, ID; 2 sons: Cliff of Hays and Rick of Guyman, OK; 9 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren.

Burial was in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Palco.
