Samuel Elwood Pryor, born Sunday, November 23, 1890, in Metroplis, Illinois. The son of Frank and Arabell Pryor.

He married Mae Alice Mitchell of Saint Louis, Missouri in 1916.

The Pryor's moved from Metropolis to Saint Louis, Missouri and then Peoria, Illinois finally coming to Chicago, Illinois. Samuel and Mae worked for his Aunt Madame Annie M. Malone, a philanthropist and the founder of Poro Beauty College, as a salesman and Manager. His favorite pass time was spreading happiness and helping others especially the youngsters of the neighborhood.

In later years the Pryor's joined Saint Dorothy's Roman Catholic Church, under the Pastorate of Reverend Father George Clemon. Mr. Pryor became a member of Saint Dorothy's Holy Name Society.

Samuel Elwood Pryor passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 1976. He leaves to deeply mourn him his wife Mae Alice, his children; Mae Ellyn Pryor, & Arabell Wilson (Legore), and a host of grand and great grand children, cousins and numerous friends.

Samuel ‘s Funeral Mass was on Monday, May 3, 1976, at Holy Angels Church, 607 Oakwood, Blvd., Chicago, Illinois. And was buried at Saint Mary's Cemetery.
