E. T. Beushausen Dies Saturday, November 2

Emil Theodore Beushausen was born in New York City on February 23, 1872. At the age of seven he came with his parents to Nebraska where they settled on a farm near Ashton. Here he grew to young manhood and attained his education in the public schools.
In 1898 he enlisted with Company H, 3rd Nebraska Infantry and served as a corporal in the Philippine campaign. Following his honorable discharge he returned to Nebraska and at Ashton on September 1, 1901, he was united in marriage to Maude Beliel. Four children were born to this union. Twin sons died in infancy and a daughter, Helen, passed away in 1936.
The family lived for a time in Scotia, and in 1909 moved to Utah, living in and around Provo where Mr. Beushausen worked with the United States Reclamation Service. In 1914 Mr. Beushausen returned with his family to Nebraska and a short time later established the Beushausen Furniture Store and Mortuary in Loup City. This has since been the family home and he has maintained an active interest in business and civic affairs until failing health forced his retirement in 1945.
He was a member of the Presbyterian church, a Past Grand of the I. O. O. F., a member of Porter Lodge No. 106 A. F. and A. M., a member of Charles E. Norris Camp of the United Spanish War Veterans, and a former mayor of Loup City. During the recent war he served as a member of the Sherman County Draft Board.
After a lingering illness, Mr. Beushausen passed away at his home in Loup City on November 2, 1946, at the age of 74 years, 8 months and 10 years. Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Thelma Guilford, one brother, Charles F., and two grandsons, Robert and James Guilford, all of Loup City.
Mr. Beushausen was a plain man and lived by plain, simple rules. Honest, straight-forward, and energetic, he was ready and willing to tackle the task at hand. Of a jovial nature his jolly manner and hearty laugh will be missed be his family and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at the family home in Loup City at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, November 5. Rev. L. F. Sweetland was in charge assisted by Rev. Jas. E. Harris. Mrs. F. J. Leschinsky was at the piano and played a short prelude before the service. Acting as pallbearers were R. R. Jenner, R. F. Rowe, C. H. Ryan, E. S. Hancock, Robert Lewis and Karl Pecht. Interment was in the family plot in the Evergreen cemetery where Burrowes Post No. 48 of the American Legion officiated with military honors at the grave.
