Mr. Bedford Boyd Gramlin, 77, of Whitestown, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at his residence.

Mr. Gramlin was born Feb. 27, 1934, in Summershade, Ky. He was the son of the now deceased Hershell and Beulah Marlene (Birge) Gramlin. When he was 13 years old, the Gramlin family left Kentucky for Illinois, and later settled in Colfax, Ill. The family moved from Illinois to Indianapolis when Bedford was 17.

He married Dovie Lois Dunn on Nov. 21, 1953, in Lebanon. Mrs. Gramlin survives. They lived in Indianapolis until the family moved to Whitestown in 1962.

From 1956 to 1996, Mr. Gramlin owned and operated Alloy Architecture Products in Indianapolis, providing aluminum trim for school and commercial buildings. In 1996, he retired and sold the business, due to his health.

In addition to his family, Mr. Gramlin had many interests. These included fishing and making birdhouses.

He was a member of Eagles Lodge No. 2062 in Lebanon and Masonic Lodge F.&A.M. No. 525 in Whitestown.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Gramlin of Whitestown; five children, Ricky L. (Michelle) Gramlin of Whitingham, Vt., Judy M. (Rodney) McHargue, David K. (Ellen) Gramlin and Donald R. (Gwen) Gramlin, all of Lebanon, and Terry Lynn (Richard) Loscomb of Columbia City, Ind.; half brother, Dale (Sally) Smith of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren, Matthew Gramlin, Jeremy Gramlin, Tiffany Gramlin Satterfield, Jed Gramlin, Effigenia "Effie" Gramlin Tanguay, Dawn McHargue, Ryan McHargue, Aaron McHargue, Joel Gramlin, Rachael Gramlin, Michael Gramlin, Brad Gramlin, Samantha Loscomb, Sarah Loscomb, David Rutter and Joseph Rutter; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Gramlin, and a grandson, Benjamin Gramlin.

Visitation is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 7300 S. Ind. 267, Lebanon. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor Jason Grubbs officiating.

Interment will follow at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Boone County.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
