William Eldridge (Edd) Howard was born July 22, 1916, son of the late William Henry Howard and Mattie Lena Irvin Howard. He was married to Edith Inez Brown on September 29, 1942, who preceded him in death on December 29, 1982.

He was a member of Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church. He served in the military during World War II in the south Pacific. He retired from Brown shoe Company. He was a loving and devoted family man. He enjoyed playing a variety of musical instrments, writing songs and singing. He was also a member of the Savannah Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Janice Inez Beckham and husbnad Sammy of Huntsville, Alabama, Janey Karen Nolen and husband Harry of Savannah, Tennessee. 6 grandchildren, Chris Beckham, Christal Padgett, Kelly Brewer, Dusty Nixon, Leah Nolen and Brian Nolen. 5 great-grandchildren, Cameron Beckham, Madison Beckham, Savannah Brock, Dylan Padgett and Blake Brewer. One brother, Homer (Boots) Howard and 2 sisters, Mae Wood Oneal, and Mary Gale Harmon. A host of nieces and nephews. Also a dear friend Nell Duncan.

Other than his parents and wife he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Leonard Howard, Roosevelt Howard, John Howard and Raymond Howard. He was also preceded in death by 3 sisters, Rhoda White, Maggie Weaver and Zilphia Messner.
