He was born in Smyth County on Sept. 18, 1928, to the late William Grover and Laura Inscore Ferguson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Grover "Billy" Ferguson Jr. He had attended Chilhowie First Church of God for many years.
Survivors include two sisters, Audrey Williams of Chilhowie and Anna Sue Chapman of Glade Spring; two half-sisters, Hazel Snuffer and Evelyn Imborden, both of West Virginia; special nephews, Ronnie Asbury, Jackie Williams, Larry Williams, Gary Wayne Williams, and Phillip Williams; two aunts; and many cousins.
Funeral services were held at the Chilhowie First Church of God. The Rev. Bobby Dunn and the Rev. Mike Potter officiated the services. Interment followed in Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Bradley's Funeral Chapel in Chilhowie was in charge of arrangements.
