Darlene S. Thompson, 63, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, October 24, 2011, at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, October 28, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapeel with the Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Thompson was born October 11, 1948 in Pineville, Kentucky to the late Jerry and Frances Thomas Stewart. She was a 1967 graduate of Barbourville High School in Barbourville, Kentucky. Mrs. Thompson moved to Fitzgerald in 1986 from Thomasville. She was a former employee of Matthews Furniture and a member of the Ocilla Church of God.
She is survived by her daughter, Becky (Doug) Maybie of Fitzgerald; son, Donnie Thompson of Valdosta, and three grandchildren, Dakota, Kyler, and Brandon. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald E. "Don" Thompson.
