Joel, age 70, was the son of Herbert R. and Nellie (Gray) McBee. He married Marjorie L. Ott on April 7, 1961, in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Monroe. Visitation was held at Rupp Funeral Home, where a celebration of his life was held, and cremation followed. He retired from the Monroe Stamping Plant, Ford Motor Company, after 29 years, in 1998, and was a 1956 graduate of Monroe High School.

He is survived by his loving wife; two daughters; a brother; and two sisters, and four grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers, Harry and Herbert; and sister, Wilma.
