He was united in marriage to Sarah, daughter of Eld. Jacob Flora. To this union were born five children. His wife and three children preceded him. His second wife was Sister Nancy Clark. To this union were born three children. He united with the church in 1863. Bro. Barnard and his wife were both anointed at the same hour, she having preceded him about two months ago.
