Steven Wayne "Broomie" Broom, age 39, of Sparta, passed away Dec. 6, 2011, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

Steven was born June 30, 1972, to John Wayne Broom and Tommy Kay Swindell Officer.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Lester and Nellie Broom and Tom and Treva Swindell.

Survivors include his father John Broom; mother and stepfather, Tommy Kay and James Dudley Officer; sister, Lisa Broom Hutchings and husband Danny; stepsister, Kathryn Officer Ferraro and husband Tom; nieces, Amber Manus, Nakia Manus, Jemma Ferraro; and several uncles, aunts, cousins and many great and special friends.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Dec. 9, 2011, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Clifty Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 5 p.m., Dec. 8, at the funeral home. Bro. Freddie Copeland will officiate.

Brandon Farley, Jesse Adcock, Steve Wilson, Scotty Wilson, Joey Bryant, Michael Rittenberry, Shane Dodson, Scotty Smith, Andy Golden, Robbie Golden, David Buford and Andy Allen will serve the family as pallbearers.

Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
