She was born Leona Tracy Schoeberl on October 15, 1913 to Simon and Anna Schoeberl in Salem, South Dakota.
She graduated in 1928 from St. Anthony's School in Hoven, SD.
After helping her dad on the family farm for several years, she married Ed Baus on November 9, 1936. Together they had six children. They moved to Seattle in 1956. There she was very busy raising the children, managing apartments and running a ceramics business.
Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Ed; sons, Howard and Gordon; daughter-in-law, Julie; and sons-in-law: Ken Borsheim and Bernie King.
She is survived by her son, Duane (Peggy), of Maple Valley; daughters, Sandra Borsheim, of Kent, Linda King, and Suzann (Jim) Henggeler of Sedro-Woolley; daughters-in-law, Luella: of Maple Valley and Joan, of Ocean Shores; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Thursday, December 8, 2011, at Lemley Chapel, Sedro-Woolley. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Friday, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 719 Ferry Street, Sedro-Woolley, with Father Tom McMichael officiating.
