Ellis McClaine Jones age 92, passed away Friday evening, December 2, 2011 at North East Regional Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. He is the widower of Lois Wood Jones.

Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, December 4, 2011 at Wells Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Forrest Memorial Park. Visitation will begin two hours prior to service at 1:00 P.M. Bishop James Harmon Smith will be officiating.

Mr. Jones was born December 2, 1919 in Marks, MS to the late James Augustus and Mae Vester White Jones. Ellis was a retired farmer and also retired from Quitman County. On June 1, 1945, Mr. Jones was inducted into the U.S. Army and was Honorably discharged on December 14, 1945.

He is survived by four daughters, Shirley Jones Bowles (Jimmie) of Batesville, MS, Carolyn Jones Miller (Melvin) of Carrollton, MS, Patricia Jones Bridges (Harvey) of Crowder, MS, Rita Jones Smith (Harmon) of Connehatta, MS; five sons, Lewis M. Jones (Billie) of Tupelo, MS, Maurice Jones (Helen) of Booneville, MS, Tommy E. Jones of Alma, AR, David Jones (Beverly) of Springdale, AR, Don W. Jones of Batesville, MS; 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding Mr. Jones in death, was three sisters, Ovie, Dora, Norine, and five brothers, Hershel, Leonard, Wilburn, Edward and Paul.
